Capstone Process

Entry 6

Monday was a good start to the week — I wasn’t overwhelmed with the amount of work I had, I felt that I was caught up and ready to take this week on. Then the week actually happened and surprise, I was not prepared.

Monday’s individual meeting with Muhammad went really well, he guided me towards the correct paths I can take to do some more secondary research and we discussed different final solutions my capstone could possibly become. My favorite was a set of cards, similar to Pokémon, where each card would have a different legend and it would correspond to different activities kids can do to aid in slowing down climate change. It would also come with a manual that would explain why these tasks are important and how exactly they help the planet. Oh, it could even have a weekly calendar in it where kids could jot down which card they had that day and what they did to ‘appease’ the legend.

The more I think about this as a solution the more I like it, granted it’s no longer centered around only ocean legends, but I think that’s okay. Unless there were multiple different card sets kids could collect and there would be Ocean Legends and Climate Change, Land Legends and Climate Change, Arctic Legends and Climate Change, etc. Granted these names are not set in stone so don’t judge them too harshly — I just pulled them out of my ass in the moment.

I did a bit more secondary research on Wednesday, but was feeling very unmotivated as I had to pack to come back home the next day. This weekend I plan to start the revised project brief and do some more research. Luckily, here at home, there’s a Barnes and Noble only 10 minutes away so I plan on going and doing some benchmarking to see what they have in regards to climate change and children’s books, games, etc.

The beginning of the week I was very motivated and now I’m falling off the wagon a bit, but trying to hop back on before it takes off without me for good.

I made this image for Core Graphic Topic studio for our Assignment 2 and it perfectly portrays how I feel right now, so enjoy!
